A Case Study of Polar Cap Sporadic-E Layer Associated with TEC Variations

The Sporadic-E (Es) layer is an often-observed phenomenon at high latitudes; however, our understanding of the polar cap Es severely limited due to scarce number measurements. Here, first comprehensive study associated with Global Positioning System (GPS) Total Electron Content (TEC) variations and scintillations presented multiple measurements Resolute, Canada (Canadian Advanced Digital Ionosonde (CADI), Northward-looking face Resolute Incoherent-Scatter Radar (RISR-N), GPS receiver). According joint observations, a thin patch structure variously electron density, which gradually develops into lower E region (~100 km) horizontally extends >200 km. Moreover, TEC produced by are pulse-like enhancements general amplitude ~0.5 TECu followed smaller but rapid perturbations. Furthermore, possible scintillation effects likely also discussed. As consequence, results widely expand on layer, in particular variations.
